15th Annual KMSU Auction: A Success for Students

The Minot State University broadcasting program's 15th annual auction successfully raised $14,450. This unique Dec. 5 fundraising event was organized, produced and promoted entirely by MSU students with guidance from Audra Myerchin, assistant broadcasting professor, Neil Roberts, associate communication arts professor, and Janna McKechnie and Candace Brekke, broadcasting advisers.
Warrior Words: Writing Workshop for Veterans of any U.S. War

The Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre was recently awarded a North Dakota Humanities Council grant to fund “Warrior Words,” a monologue-writing workshop for veterans in four North Dakota cities. The Minot workshop begins Feb. 4 and will be taught by Conrad Davidson, College of Arts and Sciences dean, on Minot State University’s campus.
'Pennies for Patients' underway at Minot State

The Beta Theta Sorority, Sigma Delta Sorority and Mu Sigma Tau Fraternity of Minot State University will sponsor a blood drive Jan. 24 in the Group X Fitness Room (Student Wellness Center, first floor) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is a fun and convenient way to donate blood, get blood pressure, temperature, pulse, hematocrit and cholesterol checked and possibly save someone’s life, all in less than an hour.

April 3 in Aleshire Theater at 7 p.m., veterans of U.S. wars will present work they completed in “Warrior Words,” a monologue-writing workshop offered by The Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre in four North Dakota cities. Conrad Davidson, Minot State University College of Arts and Sciences dean, taught the Minot workshop, which consisted of eight sessions. The Minot presenters will be Mike Carswell, Claire Eide, Orlan Hall, Tim Knickerbocker, Millo Wallace and Max Zurcher. This event is free and open to the public.

Continuing a tradition of supporting Minot State University speech and hearing efforts, Mylan Sand, Minot Sertoma Club president, presented $28,000 to Marv Semrau, MSU vice president for advancement, on May 19. Minot Sertoma Club pledged $100,000 to the MSU Development Foundation to enhance the Minot Sertoma Club Scholarship fund and to fund equipment in the Department of Communication Disorders. The check is the first installment of that commitment.

The holidays are here, and that means it’s time to register for the spring 2015 semester at Minot State University. Current students are urged to enroll in classes on campus, at Minot Air Force Base, or for classes and degree programs in Bismarck and Fargo.
