The College of Business Finance Club at Minot State University promotes finance-related activities and interests, as well as inspire members to explore the vast career opportunities in finance. The club manages the Student-Directed Investment Fund (SDIF), which affords students the invaluable opportunity to connect investment theories to real-world practice as they apply their classroom learning to the management of the fund. This helps club members develop business analysis and practical investment skills, as well as a real experience in investing real money.

Students make up the investment committee, gather research provided by financial analysts, critique the assumptions, and evaluate the investment opportunity. Students will perform their own research about a company’s business model and competitive position, analyze the firm’s financial statements, and assess the investment opportunity. As a committee the students decide to invest or divest a certain investment position.
