Gender-inclusive housing is available to all prospective and current students that are eligible to live on campus.
Gender-inclusive housing reduces assumptions about gender identity surrounding housing assignments on campus and includes students who are transgender, non-binary, questioning their gender identity, who are not comfortable with a same sex roommate, or do not want a same sex roommate. Gender-inclusive housing offers more options than traditional co-ed housing.
An optional program, gender-inclusive housing is provided in Lura Manor and Crane Hall, suite-style residence halls where two rooms share a bathroom.
To indicate that you are interested in living in gender-inclusive housing, please respond yes to the optional gender-inclusive housing question on the application. Students wishing to live in gender-inclusive housing mutually select roommates or suitemates and select their rooms during the room selection process. If necessary, students may need to contact the Residence Life Office to remove the gender lines of room selection.
If you do not have specific roommates in mind, Residence Life will do their best to work with you and pair you with others that have indicated interest in gender-inclusive housing. If a roommate cancels their housing or moves out of the room for any reason, the remaining roommates can work with Residence Life Staff to fill the vacancy. If the vacancy is not filled by the residents of the room, Residence Life Staff reserves the right to assign an interested student to the vacancy or to relocate the remaining residents to another gender-inclusive vacancy.
