New Adjunct Faculty

Adjunct Onboarding Information

Welcome to the Minot State University adjunct onboarding process. This page will assist you in the onboarding process for new adjunct faculty with Minot State.

1. First, once you have applied for and been granted the position, complete the background check through Sterling Talent Solutions. The administrative assistant in your area should initiate this process. Please contact the HR director with questions.

2. Second, once the background check comes back CLEAR, the new adjunct must complete and send the FERPA form and the Teacher’s Oath.

  • The FERPA form starts the process of getting the new hire an employee number, access to email, and access to Blackboard. Once the FERPA form has been received in the VPAA office, a copy goes to Payroll where the information will be entered as a person of interest with the North Dakota University System (NDUS) office. This process normally takes 48-72 hours.  Once complete, the new hire will receive an email from Minot State's Information Technology department (usually from Lisa Haman) to claim their account.
  • The Teacher’s Oath (or Affirmation form) needs to be notarized, which can be done at Minot State's Business office on the second floor of the Administration Building, if desired. Stop by and one of the notaries in that office can assist with the process.
    • According to Chapter 15, section 10-13.2, North Dakota revised Code of 1943, every professor, instructor, or teacher employed by any university or college in this state, which is supported in whole or in part by public funds, shall take the oath of affirmation prescribed in this chapter.

3. Third, the department/division chair should complete the Faculty Teaching Qualifications Form

4. Fourth, please provide a copy of a current CV/resume and a copy of the faculty member's transcript with the highest degree earned

5. Fifth, please complete and return the Title IX Policy Acknowledgement form. Once assigned an MSU login and password, new hires must complete Title IX training. For additional information, see Title IX Training below.

6. Please send the FERPA form, Teacher’s Oath, Faculty Teaching Qualifications form, CV (resume), transcript (a copy is okay), and Title IX Acknowledgement to the VPAA's office (2nd floor Administration Building):
