Annual Open Enrollment - 2019 Plan Year

The NDPERS Annual Open Enrollment season starts on Monday, October 15 and closes on Friday, November 2, 2018. You can complete your annual enrollment benefit elections through the PERSLink Member Self Service (MSS) online portal or the mobile app. For detailed information, please see The Annual Enrollment PERSpectives Newsletter or log on to NDPERS.


TIAA Financial Advisory Services - On-Campus Dates

One-on-one advisory sessions for employees are available from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2. Significant others are welcome to join. Please use the sign-up LINK to schedule an appointment.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Provider Transition asiflexlogo.png

Effective January 2019, ASIFlex will be the new NDUS flex spending provider. There will be a blackout period for filing claims and using the FSA debit card for approximately two weeks at the end of December to allow time for the transition. ASIFlex will conduct employee training on Thursday, October 11, from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. and 10 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. in the Westlie Room.

If you are currently enrolled in the MSU FSA, plan to enroll, or want to learn more about health and dependent care flexible spending account options, we encourage you to attend. MSU's New Employee Onboarding Program is Live

The goal of this program is to welcome new employees to the MSU community, following the acceptance of an offer from the university, ensure a smooth and successful transition and set the tone for an engaging experience from the moment they arrive on campus.

For additional information, select the " New Employees" tab on the HR homepage. Training, including HRMS automated onboarding activities, will be announced in the coming weeks. The following orientation modules will be provided to new hires.

Getting a Head Start on your Future - Microsite

The HR Office collaborated with the TIAA marketing team to design a new retirement plan introduction (microsite), hosted by Brainshark. Getting a head start on your future...An overview of the Minot State University Retirement Plan This initiative will be integrated into the new MSU onboarding program (Fall 2018) and is part of an ongoing objective to expand digital self-service.

2018-2019 Staff Handbook

The Human Resources Office, in collaboration with the Staff Senate, introduce the 2018-19 Staff Handbook. The Handbook includes an overview of MSU's history and traditions, insight into MSU work life, guiding policies & practices, health & retirement benefits, new employee resources, compensation and payroll information, employee leave time, campus health and safety procedures .


Employee Self-Service Update 

HRMS has been upgraded to PeopleSoft Fluid, a new self-service interface. When logging in, you will notice that the employee self-service homepage has interactive tiles that provide easier navigation across platforms. MSU will launch fluid pages, in full, with our next HRMS upgrade in 2018. Access the user guide for additional information on the current upgrade.

IRS Announces Contribution Limits for 2018

You can contribute up to $18,500 to your retirement account. And if you’re 50 or older, you’re eligible to contribute an additional $6,000, for a total of $24,500. Learn More

The $250 Wellness Benefit is Back

Effective June 1, 2017, the NDPERS Dakota Wellness Program $250 Benefit will be reinstated for all eligible members and their covered spouses participating in the NDPERS group health insurance plan. For more information contact our Wellness Center.

The Art of Mindfulness in Managing Stress (April 3)

If there is one condition that describes our lives today, it is “stressed out”. Recent changes in our community have increased stress levels for many of us. High stress levels take a toll on our life, work, physical health and relationships. Learning how to recognize and reduce stress is key to living a healthy life. Take some time out of your “busyness” to practice the techniques for managing stress. This program is brought to you by your Staff Senate, Wellness Center, Marketing and Human Resources team. New Applicant Screening Process

MSU HR has contracted with Sterling Talent Solutions to conduct background investigations as part of the application process. Through this partnership, we are reducing cost while increasing workflow efficiency and customer service. If your department has part-time or student workers who require screening ( NDUS 602.3), please contact HR for access and training. Training will take place on February 22 via web meeting. Faculty and staff applications will continue to be handled by HR.

Please note that consent forms will only be used when an applicant's email address is not available.


NDUS Faculty Leave Task Force

The NDUS Faculty Leave Task Force resumed meetings on January 11.  Chancellor Hagerott charged the task force with providing one consistent policy for all 11 institutions for annual leave and sick leave for faculty.
