Voice
The Division of Performing Arts has a long and distinguished reputation for excellence in the voice area. Graduates have enjoyed success teaching in public schools, pursuing higher education and performing regularly throughout the U.S. and abroad. Students may choose between voice study in the BSE for the future educators or BA for the liberal arts education. Lessons are also available to music minors and non-majors. Regardless of degree choice, voice students at MSU are afforded a comprehensive study with one of the four highly qualified master teachers. Additional opportunities include weekly lessons and master classes, student recitals and performances with any of the four vocal performing ensembles. MSU is host to frequent guest artists who offer performances, lectures and master-classes. Each year, in cooperation with the Western Plains Opera Company, students may perform along side of nationally acclaimed young professionals for a grand opera production. Qualified students are frequently heard singing major and supporting roles.
The primary goal of voice study in the Division of Performing Arts is to see that the love of singing is nourished in each individual student. Our graduates are thoroughly prepared to pursue their chosen path, whether they choose to be an educator, a performer or seek higher degrees and continued study.
