Concert Choir
Large ensemble of mixed voices dedicated to the performance and study of significant choral literature. The Concert Choir meets three times each week, MWF from 12:00 to 1:00. Students are also asked to hold Monday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. free to make up any weekly rehearsal that be missed. MSU concerts are performed on a regular basis. The choir tours frequently to perform for area events and presents a concert tour which covers the surrounding states and region in alternate years. The ensemble performs a wide range of music from all periods and styles, ranging from the Renaissance to Contemporary music, from the a capella to the orchestral accompanied.

The ensemble is open to all students and an audition is required for participation. Participation scholarships are available.
 

 

Women's Choir
Women's Chorus meets twice each week from 12:00-1:00, Tuesday and Thursday. This ensemble is open to female singers from across the campus and requires no audition to participate. A wide range on choral literature is performed on regularly scheduled Division of Performing Arts concerts. Rehearsals and performances usually take place in MSU's Ann Nicole Nelson Hall.
   

MSU Singers
Small ensemble of mixed voices focusing on contemporary a cappella music. It meets twice each week from 2:00 to 2:50PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Concerts are presented with the MSU Choirs and other small ensembles within the Division of Performing Arts.

The ensemble is open to all students and an audition is required for participation.
 

 

Opera Scenes
Opera-Musical Production meets Monday and Friday from 4:00-5:00 P.M. Individual students are cast in roles and placed into opera or musical scenes which are then prepared, coached and performed for a wide range of regional audiences. All-student productions have included Hansel and Gretel, Babar the Elephant, scenes from The Old Maid and the Thief and Dido and Aeneas. One semester of each year is dedicated to the main-stage production of the Western Plains Opera, MSU's resident regional opera company. Students perform alongside young professionals from across the country in fully-staged and costumed productions featuring full orchestration with a guest conductor and stage director to perform great works from the operatic repertoire. Recent productions include Carmen, Le Nozze di Figaro, Traviata, Fledermaus, and The Bartered Bride.

The ensemble is open to all students with required audition for participation.
   
Music Theatre Studio
Performance of major roles of Musical Theatre in studio projects. Emphasis is placed on the student’s integration of singing, acting, and movement into a unified performance.
