MINOT, N.D. – Beginning his college career at Bismarck State College and completing an associate’s degree in business administration last spring, Carson Fettig wanted to continue his studies of business management at Minot State.
Now a junior, Fettig feels at home and is happy with his decision to transfer to MSU.
“I wanted to stay local, especially for the North Dakota Academic scholarship, but also because it just felt like home. It was the friendliest campus I’ve been on, and I toured all the schools in North Dakota even before choosing BSC,” he said. “I toured MSU on Beaver Bound Day in March of last spring and that’s what really sold me on it.”
On top of the in-state scholarship, Fettig also received the Minot State Transfer Student Scholarship.
Fettig is getting his feet wet with experience through the Residence Hall Association and working with the student activities club, MSU Life.
“Being a part of RHA last semester and this semester has been fun. By meeting the amazing people here and being able to be a part of things I never thought I could, to now starting next year as a new MSU Life coordinator has just been incredible,” he said.
The atmosphere on campus has played a big role in his easy transition to Minot State.
“Having the ability to talk to professors, counselors, and advisors to make sure you’re on the right path is working out well,” Fettig said. “Just having that connection with everyone here on campus will always help me to succeed.”
Fettig is excited to finish out his junior year and for the future experiences he will have in his final year beginning Fall 2022 and believes coming to Minot State was one of the best decisions he’s made.
“If students are wanting to be a part of a community that is one big family, then this is where they should come. As students, we’re not just a number to them, we’re people,” he said. “We’re here to build a better future for ourselves and that’s what Minot’s here for.”
