We’re excited to welcome you back to Minot State.
To apply as a returning student, you
- were previously an undergraduate at Minot State, AND
- had an interruption of at least one fall or spring semester.
2. Send Documents.
If you attended any other college or university since attending Minot State University, please request your official transcript(s) be sent to Minot State from those institutions. If you attended a North Dakota University System (NDUS) institution, we can retrieve your academic transcripts for you.
Any undergraduate student who attended classes at Minot State and then took one or more full (Fall or Spring) semesters off is considered a returning student. This includes (but is not limited to):
- Active military students who were deployed
- Students who are returning to finish their first degree
- Students who have completed a degree at Minot State and want to take more classes
- Students who had to sit out due to an academic suspension period
You would not be considered a returning student if you have:
- Never attended classes at Minot State
- Only enrolled in classes through Minot State for Dual Credit during high school
- Only ever taken Graduate level courses through Minot State
- Only taken Minot State courses collaboratively while enrolled at another NDUS institution
If you aren’t sure if you would be considered a returning student, please contact the Registrar’s Office for assistance.
It is not necessary to request transcripts if you attended the following North Dakota University System (NDUS) institutions:
• Bismarck State College
• Dakota College at Bottineau
• Dickinson State University
• Lake Region State College
• Mayville State University
• North Dakota State College of Science
• North Dakota State University
• University of North Dakota
• Valley City State University
• Williston State College
We will be able to retrieve your academic transcript(s) from your previous NDUS institution(s) at no charge to you. However, you will be notified if you have any holds on your academic transcripts for outstanding debt owed to a NDUS college or university. No refunds will be granted for individuals who inadvertently request transcripts to be exchanged between NDUS institutions.
