Dance lessons at Minot State

MINOT, N.D. – Learn how to swing dance and waltz while helping students at Minot State achieve a goal for growth.

The free will donation classes are open to the public and will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, Thursday, March 3, and Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m. on the second floor of Swain Hall in the pedagogy lab/gym.

Minot State students from the Department of Teacher Education and Kinesiology are hosting the fundraiser for pre-professional development.

“This fundraiser is important to help fund certifications that we are pursuing, along with conferences that we have the opportunity to attend,” said Holly Steer, corporate fitness and wellness management and physical education student. “Being able to take the courses and attend trainings during our college years will help us gain knowledge now while we’re still learning and looking at all of the different career path options that are out there.”

The Feb. 24 class will focus on Basic Swing, where participants will learn basic step, outside and inside underarm turn, backpass, and around the world. On Thursday, March 3, Swing 2 will teach the slide and pretzel. March 10 will focus on the waltz including underarm turns, backpass, and hesitation.

Pre-registration is not required for the event. For questions, email Steer at holly.steer@minotstateu.edu.
