MINOT, N.D. – Coming from Shellbrook, Sask., Jenna Beaulieu began her college education at Minot State four years ago. She earned her undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders and finished with a minor in deaf and hard of hearing.

“I chose Minot State because it has a great communication disorders program. I also love that Minot State is a small campus but still has lots of opportunities,” she said.

Along with being a part of the communication sciences and disorders department, Beaulieu was also involved in multiple groups on campus that helped her grow within her focus of study.

“I have been involved with various clubs at Minot State including NSSLHA (National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association), Student Ambassadors, MSU Life, and Sign On,” Beaulieu said. “This past year, I served as the NSSLHA president and the head tour guide trainer for student ambassadors. Both positions were great opportunities and a lot of fun.”

“Being a part of clubs and campus organizations has helped me to feel like I have a place at Minot State. They have also helped me to gain leadership and organizational skills which I am sure will be helpful as I enter grad school.”

Post-undergrad, Beaulieu will visit home for the summer but plans to return to Minot in the fall to continue her education within the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program.

“I will be back at Minot State in the fall to attend grad school to officially become a speech-language pathologist,” Beaulieu said. “After I complete grad school, I would like to return home to Canada to work as a speech language pathologist in a hospital setting.”

Although nervous, Beaulieu is excited to return to MSU to learn more about the field of speech-language pathology, and continue to make memories.

She is grateful for the faculty and professors at Minot State within the communication sciences and disorders program who are kind and supportive, which helped her get to graduation, along with the support of her family.
