A Message from Minot State University President Dr. Steven Shirley:

As you know, the COVID-19 virus continues to spread and change daily life for all of us. The best practices to try and minimize the effects of this pandemic continue to primarily revolve around, among other things, social distancing and avoiding crowds. To that end, and in trying to provide as much notice for MSU students who live a distance from Minot, I am hereby announcing that Minot State University courses will be delivered remotely via technology for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we have worked through this process. This has obviously been a very complex and quite unprecedented situation, so we are trying to make the best decisions with the information we have. More information will be forthcoming in the days ahead as there are many details to sort through related to the completion of the Spring Semester. But, at a minimum, I wanted our entire campus community to have this primary piece of information as soon as possible so they can begin planning accordingly. Classes will resume online as scheduled on Tuesday, March 24 and continue in an online/distance format for the remainder of the Spring semester. There will be no more face-to-face classes this Spring at Minot State.

Please monitor your email as more information, especially related to details for students in the Residence Halls, will be forthcoming in the very near future. My deepest apologies for this unfortunate set of circumstances, particularly to our graduating seniors who will not be able to complete their final semester on the MSU campus. Your senior year is a special time, and it is frustrating to have it end this way. You have my sincerest thoughts and apologies. Regarding Commencement in May, we have not yet made a final decision on that, but more information and a final decision should be forthcoming in the next 10 days on our graduation plans.

Stay safe and best wishes in the days ahead.
