Artist Statement:
“Exit 34B Art, Education, Adventure” reflects on the importance and beneficial factors of experiential-based learning in art. These examples of art and reflection of experiential-based learning come from my experiences of creating a study tour for students that focused on art, culture, and exploration. The works of art presented within this exhibition reflect the travel process, study tour curriculum, and multiple locations visited by students. All locations visited centered around art curriculum that I designed for the experience. Each component of this curriculum incorporated art concepts including: architecture, interactive art, art history, sculptures, murals, mosaics, and art preservation. The exhibition “Exit 34B Art, Education, Adventure” visually represents the process of this study tour adventure, including the multiple experiential-based learning opportunities that students encountered.
Biography:
Allison Muncaster is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education with a Major in Art at Minot State University. Originally from St. Louis Missouri, Allison first discovered her passion for art at a young age. Throughout her early years she continued to expand her artistic knowledge and experiences through working with multiple art mediums. Her passion for art stems from the concept that art allows people to express what is in their heart and creates a gateway of communication when words just are not enough. Some of her most experienced mediums include stained glass, painting, drawing, and photography. Allison now lives in Crosby, North Dakota with her husband, John, while also living part-time in Minot North Dakota to further pursue her education.
