Consider an art education profession
The Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd) with a major in Art is a professionally-oriented program designed to offer you a well-rounded experience for a career as a visual art teacher, grades K–12. The program prepares you to be a competent, employable teacher as well as a skilled artist. Candidates accepted into the BSEd program are expected to adhere to a high standard of excellence and demonstrate significant artistic growth.
Career outlook
The art education program expands your artistic vision and helps you find a job. In the last 13 years, 96% of our graduates that applied for teaching positions were hired as teachers, often recruited before they finished their degrees.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, high school teachers earn a median pay of $62,360 per year.

Art department scholarship
The Art Department has awarded over $50,000 in scholarships in the past decade to art students with an average awardee receiving nearly $1,200. Awards are based on the quality of applications and student portfolios. You are encouraged to apply at MinotStateU.edu/msuart.
Accreditation
Teacher education programs at Minot State University are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP). Minot State is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (hlcommission.org), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
