College for Kids Summer

The College for Kids Summer program at Minot State University offers a range of educational and creative camps for children, helping to promote continuing education outside of the traditional school year. Activities can include fitness, arts, and practical skills, such as photography, painting, babysitting, and board game design. Each camp is designed to inspire lifelong learning in a fun, hands-on environment.


Summer 2026 Camps

Business of Babysitting

Intructor: Aven Kelly

Cost $45

Ages: 11-14

This informative camp will teach you how to properly do First Aid, CPR, babysitting, and the roles and responsibilities of being a good babysitter.  Hands-on teaching and role-playing will be used throughout the camp.

Crochet Camp

Learn the basics of crocheting and crochet a washcloth OR learn advanced/specialized skills in crocheting. We will provide all materials needed.

Click! Click! Click! Calling all shutterbugs, memory keepers & creatives! Click Camp is a hands-on digital photography class covering camera and photography basics such as composition, lighting, posing and perspective. Students will use these skills to capture beautiful images in a hands-on photo scavenger hunt! Point-and-shoot digital cameras will be provided. Weather appropriate attire. Sunscreen, bug spray, hat and/or sunglasses if desired for outside photo scavenger hunt.

Build a Bot Dash • June 9 & 10

Design it, build it, race it! A hands-on robotics adventure! Get ready to build, race, and explore the exciting world of robotics! In this hands-on STEM activity, students will receive their own robot kit and work with instructors to build a functioning robot step by step. No experience is needed! Our team will guide participants through the process while introducing basic engineering concepts, problem-solving skills, and how motors and simple machines work together to bring a robot to life.

Once the robots are built, it’s time for the fun part, the races! Students will test their creations on the track and compete in friendly robot races with their classmates. This activity encourages creativity, teamwork, and curiosity while giving students a fund introduction to engineering and robotics.

Best of all, each participant will take their complete robot home at the end of the session so the learning and fun can continue.

Yoga & Rock Climbing • June 9 & 10

Come enjoy the adventures of yoga and rock climbing! The camp will provide a fun, creative, and enriching experience through yoga movement and games while also providing a unique and rewarding experience with rock climbing, which has been shown to help build confidence, improve focus, and increase coordination in children.

Pop Art Painting • June 9-11

Instructor: Rhonda Weninger

Explore the exciting world of pop art and learn how to paint! Students will learn about pop artists like Andy Warhol, color theory, and learn techniques for working with acrylic paint. Then students will create their one-of-a-kind candy pop art on a canvas with acrylic paint! Aprons will be provided, but please have the kids wears clothes that can get paint on them.

Please have your child/children bring a picture from a magazine or newspaper, computer printout, etc. of their favorite candy or a clean and empty candy wrapper of their favorite candy.

Fitness Fun for Kids • June 16 & 17

Our fitness camp for kids is all about having fun while providing a variety of activities for kids of all fitness levels to participate in.  Kids will enjoy being active while they rotate through various stations that will include playing games, a climbing wall, yoga, calisthenics, agility, and much more.  Wear some tennis shoes, comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle and join the fun!

Wacky Watercolors • June 16-18

Instructor: Rhonda Weninger

Come explore with watercolors! In this camp, students will learn wet on wet, wet on dry, and many more watercolor techniques. Students will sharpen their skills and then they will create a beautiful torn paper watercolor landscape!

Scene Stealers Theater Camp • June 23

Places, everyone — cue the spotlight! This high-energy theater camp invites kids ages 8–12 to jump into the spotlight and discover the joy of performance. Through improv games, character creation, storytelling challenges, and stage performance, campers will build confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills — all while laughing nonstop. No experience needed — just imagination and a willingness to play!

Campers are encouraged to bring a few small costume pieces (hats, scarves, capes, costume jewelry, etc.) to use during character activities and performance games. Please avoid bringing valuable items, large props, or toy weapons.

Rollercoaster Engineering Challenge
June 22 & 23

Does your child love to build, invent, and create?  This is the camp for them!  Young innovators will become engineers as they design and build a marble rollercoaster from everyday materials.  Working in teams, your child will learn how real engineers turn ideas into working creations by following the engineering design process - imagining, planning, building, testing, and improving their designs.

Paleontology - Decoding Fossils • June 24 & 25

Instructor: Tina Webb

Does your child love fossils and exploring the past?  This is the camp for them!  Young paleontologists will go through rock samples taken from a real paleontology site, locate and identify fossils, and then determine where they came from!  Your child will uncover clues about life on Earth millions of years ago!
