A former school-based SLP, Dr. Mary Huston joined the faculty at Minot State University in 2016 as an Assistant Professor. In 2021, she assumed the role of Department Chair and Program Director. Dr. Huston graduated with her MS: SLP in 2009 from Minot State and completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Teaching and Learning: Higher Education in 2022. Her doctoral dissertation focused on academic integrity of speech-language pathology students.

Dr. Huston is actively involved in various organizations related to speech-language pathology. She served as the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association faculty advisor from 2017– 2022. Dr. Huston served as the President of the North Dakota Speech-Language Hearing Association from 2018-2020 and from 2022 - present.

Dr. Huston’s interests include phonology, special education law, neurology, and professional networking. She has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally. In 2018 she was named the Student Government Professor of the Year for the College of Education and Health Sciences. In addition, Dr. Huston is also a mother, pet owner, and app author (5 iPad apps for speech-language therapy!). In her “spare” time, she also writes a professional blog and loves to read.
