Tamara Waters-Wheeler is an adjunct instructor at Minot State University in the School Psychology Graduate Program.  Tamara began her scholastic career at the University of Regina where she obtained a B.A. in Psychology in August of 1991. Tamara came to Minot State University in December of 1991 to begin her master’s in criminal justice.  After realizing that Criminal Justice was not for her, she began working at the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch in Minot where she was a Child Care worker and Case Manager.  DBGR encouraged her to get her Bachelors in Addiction Counseling and Social work and even assisted with tuition.  Tamara worked at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch for 7 years and, after having her oldest daughter, Miyah, decided to get her Education Specialist Degree at Minot State University.  After receiving her degree in 2002, Tamara was employed at Morton Sioux SPED Unit as a school psychologist and DBGR as a therapist.  Tamara became a full-time school psychologist in 2003.  Tamara added to her family in 2004 with the birth of her daughter, Izabela. In 2010, Tamara received her Graduate Certificate in Autism from the University of North Dakota.  In 2020, Tamara completed Level 2 Trauma Training in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics with Dr. Bruce Perry.  Tamara is an avid learner, constantly attending trainings and conferences to add to her repertoire of knowledge.  Tamara specializes in trauma, social emotional interventions, behavior and assessing diverse students. She has been quoted in USA today (4/1/2005) and in “Facilitating Effective Communication in School Based Settings” by Jason A. Parkin.  Tamara is heavily involved in the ND Association of School Psychologists, holding the President position, twice, as well as past president, and secretary.  Tamara has also served as the President of the ND Council for Exceptional Children and as President of the Bismarck-Mandan Council for Exceptional Children.  She is currently the President of the Mandan Delta Kappa Gamma. Tamara is also currently an adjunct instructor at the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND.
