NODAKON 2025 focuses on cyber safety

By Michael Linnell
University Communications Director

MINOT, N.D. – NODAKON, Minot State University School of Business, Math, and Technology’s annual cybersecurity event, is scheduled for Oct. 16 at the Minot State Student Center Conference Center and Model Hall.

In its fifth year, NODAKON will feature a Cybersecurity Summit: See something, say something: Only you can prevent cyberattacks. The summit is sponsored by the MSU Cultural and Intellectual Engagement Council, SRT, and First Western Bank & Trust.

“The importance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated. Our goal with this event is to empower the greater community with skills and knowledge to remain vigilant when it comes to cybersecurity,” said Krisi Berg, MSU professor in computer information systems.

The community is invited to attend free sessions during the Cybersecurity Summit. The event begins in the MSU Student Center Conference Center at 10 a.m. with a brief welcome and three guest speakers. Jacob Rued, from First Western Bank & Trust, will talk about cyber fraud and finances; James Hudler, from North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT), will speak as a passionate cyber defender; and Thomas Blade from Arctic Wolf will address steps to take after getting hacked.

There will be a free lunch beginning at noon, with registration required. Sign up for the lunch HERE. During lunch, keynote speaker Peter Ingebrigsten, a cyber evangelist, will discuss awareness about security risks and solutions as he has a passion for cybersecurity.

Afternoon sessions are only open to Minot State students and will feature an incident response challenge by NDIT’s Hudler, Josh Jenkins, and Jon Heard in MSU’s Model Hall from 1:15-4 p.m.

For more information and a full schedule of events, see Minot State’s NODAKON 2025 WEBSITE.
