Guaranteed/Direct Admission

The Nursing Program at Minot State University offers a GUARANTEED ADMISSION TO THE NURSING MAJOR each semester to students who meet the criteria for guaranteed admission listed below. After reviewing applications, the Admissions and Progression Committee of the Department of Nursing will notify accepted students by May 15th.

Criteria for Guaranteed Admission to the nursing major:

  • ACT score 24 or higher OR cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Graduation from a North Dakota High School.
  • Declare Nursing as Major the 1st semester at MSU.
  • Enroll in First Year Experience.
  • Applications for Guaranteed Admission are accepted between March 1st and May 1st of each year.
  • Submit the application for Guaranteed Admission to the Nursing Major
  • Deadline to Apply is May 1st of your Senior Year of High School.
  • Transfer students not eligible for guaranteed admission.

The following admission requirements must be met:

  • MSU Cumulative GPA 3.0
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 in the 12 required support courses for the nursing major.
  • Must achieve a C or higher in the required support courses.
  • No course repeats.
  • TEAS test and English proficiency requirements waived if above guaranteed admission criteria met.
  • Submit the Admission to Nursing Major form and application fee the fall or spring application deadline, along with other admission documents.

Students who do not meet the above progression criteria are eligible for the general Application and Admission process. Contact your advisor.
