Studying art at Minot State is a meaningful and rewarding experience. You will build confidence in your creativity by developing technique, concept, and design.
The Bachelor of Arts with a major in Art bolsters your talent by broadening your skill level and tapping into your individual strengths as an artist. You will learn technique and master skills necessary to make you the artist only you can become. You will be required to take a selection of general education courses, a core of foundational art courses, and specific courses in the option of your choice. Under the required foundation, you will learn about color, design, drawing, art history, graphic design, and photography. Under your specific option, you will take a selection of courses that delve into your interests and prepare your aesthetic skills and professional abilities for your career goals.

A Minot State art education will increase your chances of being productive at the professional level. Graduates from our program work professionally as photographers, graphic designers, web designers, illustrators, educators, gallery or museum directors, and working visual artists.

Art department scholarship
The Harvey & Arlone Twyman scholarship is available to incoming freshmen, transfer students, and currently enrolled majors. Awards are based on the quality of applications and student portfolios. You are encouraged to apply at MinotStateU.edu/msuart.
