How to Apply

Build on your degree. Apply as a post-baccalaureate student by submitting your undergraduate transcript to earn another degree.

1. Submit your application.

Complete your Undergrad Online Application to the Post-Baccalaureate Program with your $35 application fee. This can be submitted prior to submitting your supporting documents.

  • Type of application: Undergraduate transfer

2. Send Documents.

Ask your school counselor to send your official transcript(s) to Minot State.

3. Complete the application package review process

All complete application packages will be sent to the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders for review.

  • Successful candidates will be notified via email for a spot in the program and have 45 days to claim this spot by replying to the email.
  • Waitlisted candidates will be notified via email.
    • Notifications of any openings will be sent via email and you will have 45 days to claim your spot by replying to the email.
  • Unsuccessful candidates will be notified via email.

4. Submit your immunizations.

Provide proof of two doses of immunization for measles, mumps, and rubella after acceptance.

  • Immunization records can be sent directly to the Student Health Center through the Student Health Portal after you have claimed your Campus Connection account.

5. File for FAFSA and Scholarships.

Apply for federal financial aid and scholarships. The FAFSA priority funding deadline is April 15.

Admissions Requirements

We require a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher (4.0 scale). 

If you do not meet these minimum guidelines, you will still be considered for admission if there is evidence in your academic record demonstrating a high probability of success.

Complete the following 13 high school core courses:

  • 4 units of English
  • 3 units of mathematics (at the level of Algebra 1 and above)
  • 3 units of laboratory science
  • 3 units of social science

If you do not meet these minimum guidelines, you will still be considered for admission if there is evidence in your academic record demonstrating a high probability of success.

Minot State is test-optional and does not require ACT/SAT test scores for admission. We rely on your high school grade point average (GPA) and core coursework to make admission decisions.

Although ACT/SAT test scores are not required for admission, you may elect to send your test scores if you feel they provide a more complete representation of your academic abilities.

Additionally, Math and English course placement is determined based on submitted ACT/SAT scores. Some scholarships and awards also use test scores to select recipients and determine award amounts.

Required Documents

  • Official academic records sent from all previous institutions.
    • If you are currently attending college, request your in-progress transcript be sent to Minot State.
    • Request final, official transcripts from all other post-secondary schools you’ve attended.
    • You must have a 3.0 GPA at the undergraduate level to apply for the post-baccalaureate program.
    • Your transcripts may need to be evaluated by World Education Services (WES) or Education Credential Evaluators (ECE).

  • The application will direct you to electronically submit three names who will complete your online recommendation forms. Choose individuals who can attest to your ability to complete this intensive one-year program and your potential success at the graduate level.

All non-academic documents can be:

Transferring Credits

Official transcripts must be sent from your school(s) in a sealed envelope to Enrollment Services. We also accept electronic transcripts through third party transcript services such as National Clearinghouse, E-transcripts, JST, and Parchment. Faxed or emailed transcripts cannot be accepted as official.

  • Request your official academic records for all previous institutions be sent to Minot State.

    • If you are currently attending college, submit your in-progress transcript.
    • Request final, official transcripts from all other post-secondary schools you’ve attended.

  • The following official academic records for all previous institutions must be sent to Minot State:

    • Final, official high school transcript.
      • This transcript must show a 2.75 minimum GPA and that you met all North Dakota high school core class requirements (listed below).
    • If you are currently attending college, your in-progress transcript.
    • Final, official transcripts from all other post-secondary schools you’ve attended.

  • You do not need to request transcripts from other North Dakota University System (NDUS) institutions. Instead, we will be able to retrieve your academic transcript at no charge to you!

    • Mayville State University
    • North Dakota State College of Science
    • North Dakota State University
    • University of North Dakota
    • Valley City State University
    • Williston State College

    If we retrieve your academic transcript from your previous NDUS institution, you will be notified if you have any holds for outstanding debt. No refunds will be granted for individuals who inadvertently request transcripts to be exchanged between NDUS colleges and universities.
