Come see how Minot State can fit into your future. We know transfer students often have specific questions about transferring credits, paying for college, and academic programs. Transfer-mation will provide you the answers to all the above. You can spend an hour or more on campus, learning more about Minot State - this event is yours to build!

You will:

  • Learn about admission requirements.
  • Receive an unofficial transcript evaluation.
  • Meet with a representative from the academic major of your choice. (See times and majors from the list below)

When signing up:

  • Decide if you want to come to campus or participate in our NEW virtual event. 
  • Select if you want to talk about admissions before or after your academic appointment.
  • Select if you want an in-depth look at your financial aid
  • Find out your admission decision that day*
  • Take a tour of campus (at 10am or 1pm!)
  • Even eat lunch on us!

(*only if you apply at least the day before arriving and bring all required documents to make an admission decision)

Consider an accounting profession
An accounting degree enables you to provide tax services, conduct audits, and provide financial or managerial accounting services. You can work in small businesses, large corporations, not-for-profit organizations, medical facilities, schools, all levels of government, and may be self-employed. Some accounting professionals teach and conduct research at colleges and universities. Many accountants work with the public.

 

Is addiction studies right for you?
Being an addictions counselor can be extremely rewarding, but it can also be stressful. Rewards include helping clients and families improve their health, well-being, and prevent future generations from experiencing similar problems. Challenges include large workloads, high demand for services, and limited resources. You may have to intervene in crisis situations and work with agitated clients. The techniques and skills necessary to cope with these situations are taught at Minot State University.

 

Consider an art profession
Careers can include but are not limited to: graphic design, photography, animation, crafts, art history, museum/gallery work, and can also propel you into working in the fine arts as a professional artist, graduate work, or an employee at a school or business.

 

What can you do with a management degree?
Managers typically plan, direct, and oversee operations and employees. They may supervise an entire company, government office, specific department, or territory. Managers often specialize in a particular field, such as sales, finance, health services, human resources, social and community services, government, and education.

 

Learn with Minot State
When you choose biology as a major at Minot State, you will study the form, physiology, heredity, development, evolution, and ecological relationships of a variety of organisms. You also will assist faculty members with research projects. Faculty advisors will work closely with you in our small class settings to assure you are prepared to enter the programs of your choice. When studying at Minot State, you can prepare for:
  • Professional programs in dentistry, medicine, optometry, veterinary medicine, podiatry, and physical therapy
  • Careers in wildlife biology and laboratory sciences
  • Graduate studies in biology

 

The BIT department offers educational opportunities in Management Information Systems and Business Education in both the undergraduate and graduate career fields. Some of the many careers that may be pursued include systems analysis, database manager, network manager, etc.

As a speech-language pathologist, audiologist, or speech and hearing scientist, you can work in research, education, industry, and health care. You will work as a part of interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings, some of which include:

  • Hospitals and rehabilitation centers
  • Schools and early intervention
  • Private practice
  • Industry, business, and research laboratories

 

Consider an career in criminal justice
As a social and behavioral science degree, the criminal justice program prepares you for a wide variety of career opportunities in law, law enforcement, the courts, corrections, and juvenile justice. Criminal justice professionals may interact with agencies at the federal, state, and local level and with professionals in private security, loss prevention, counseling, and treatment.

 

Is early childhood education right for you?
Early childhood educators typically work with children from birth through grade three and must possess the skills necessary to explain reading, writing, science, and other subjects in ways young children can understand. You may work in public and private schools, child-care centers, and charitable organizations.

Our elementary education program is particularly strong. Starting with your first semester, you will enroll in education classes that provide the chance to visit classrooms. Throughout your time at Minot State, you will work with elementary-age students every year so you are prepared for student teaching. Elementary education faculty encourage active participation in discussions, hands-on learning, and simulations. We do more than lecture.

We promote global comprehension through the study of language and culture and prepare our graduates to travel, study, and work abroad. In a global economy, the ability to communicate with people in their native languages is a key to making cultural, social, and economic connections. You are encouraged to combine foreign language studies with other majors, such as international business, English, history, criminal justice, nursing, or a second foreign language. The following foreign language majors are available at Minot State:

  • Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Foreign Language - Spanish
  • Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Foreign Language - Dual Language
  • Bachelor of Science in Education with a Major in Foreign Language - Spanish

 

The Honors Program in Engagement & Scholarship (HOPES) at Minot State challenges students who want a stimulating academic experience, caring faculty, collaborative learning, and creative thinking. These courses allow you to earn an academic concentration or minor in Honors.

You will participate in lively seminar discussions, conduct independent study and research, produce and present an advanced-level writing project (minor only), participate in community service projects, and earn recognition for your achievements.

Consider a mathematics profession
A mathematics degree opens up many opportunities. Applied mathematicians apply theories and techniques to practical questions, such as the effectiveness of a new drug or the aerodynamics of a new car. Theoretical mathematicians identify and resolve unexplained issues to increase basic knowledge that leads to advancements in science and engineering.

Consider a computer science profession
Computer science graduates work with people to develop innovative ways to harness the power of computing. You will maintain computer and network security, debug computer programs, create websites, design software, protect sensitive information, and analyze data.

 

Learn with Minot State
Whether you choose to perform, teach in a private studio or class, or prepare for advanced studies, Minot State University will prepare you to pursue your chosen musical path. We offer comprehensive and personalized curriculum in five areas: band, keyboard, strings, voice, and music education. Led by a nationally acclaimed music faculty, you can pursue private instruction and participate in ensembles ranging from chamber music to the Minot State marching band. You will participate in large and small ensembles, private lessons, and master classes. All students present a senior recital. All students can expect to receive instruction in these specialized areas:

  • Composing, conducting, arranging, improvisation, and performance
  • Music literature, theory, and history
  • Music technology, including audio/video production and recording/notation software 

Is nursing right for you?
Registered nurses should be caring, sympathetic, responsible, and detail-oriented. You must be able to direct or supervise others, correctly assess patients’ conditions, and determine when consultation is required. You need emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses

 

Is physical education right for you?
Teaching is both rewarding and challenging. Physical education teachers need to be physically fit and active, have good communication skills, and be able to effectively manage a learning environment. These skills allow students to have fun while learning fitness and health concepts, lifetime fitness activities, and movement and sports skills. PE teachers who coach school sports often earn additional money for their responsibilities.

Consider a degree in social science
Social science is a branch of learning that examines society’s institutions and how they affect and are affected by human behavior. As a social science major, you will learn how to develop and demonstrate an understanding of social science concepts and tools and their application to the analysis of social, cultural, and political systems.
