Freshman Admission Guarantee

Do you have a clear vision for the future, good academic and social skills, AND want to become a speech-language pathologist? Consider our new Freshman Admission Guarantee.

Minot State’s undergraduate program in communication sciences and disorders prepares you for graduate studies in speech-language pathology. With small classes, you get a fantastic education and personalized faculty attention. You are out in the field from the start. The Freshman Admission Guarantee allows you automatic entry into our highly-regarded Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program.

The master’s program is hands-on, offering a wide variety of clinical opportunities across the discipline and the lifespan. In this program, you get to choose your externship site anywhere in North America. All our graduates pass the PRAXIS test and find jobs, often prior to graduation. Our alumni work across the United States and Canada.

To be eligible for the Freshman Admission Guarantee you must meet ALL undergraduate program criteria listed below:

  • Attend Minot State beginning freshman year and throughout all undergraduate study
  • Maintain at least a GPA of 3.25 every semester in attendance at Minot State
  • Have an overall GPA of at least 3.4 at the time of application to the graduate program
  • Have a CD GPA of 3.5 or better at the time of application to the graduate program

In addition, you must maintain acceptable performance in the areas of professional demeanor, time management, ownership for learning, and oral/written communication. Faculty will review your performance in these areas each semester — developing a growth plan if necessary.

For more information regarding the Freshman Admission Guarantee, contact Mary Huston, department chair, at mary.huston@MinotStateU.edu or 701-858-3593.
