Workshops

The Academic Succuess Workshops are designed to provide students with an interactive experience to enhance their academic learning and student success. Workshops are organized by topic and designed to meet the demands of college-level academics. All workshops are facilitated by trained members of the Academic Support Center, Counseling Services, or other academic departments, and are offered throughout the semester. For a detailed list of workshop topics and their times and locations, please refer to the list of Academic Success Workshops below.

Students can register for workshops by completing the registration form found HERE.

Registration closes at 12 p.m. the day prior to the scheduled workshop. Students will receive an email and outlook meeting invite for each registered workshop. 

Steps to Building Your Career - Whether you're a freshman or a senior in college, it's critical to set aside some time from your studies, activities and part-time tp plan for life after school. Some students think that they don't need to worry about visiting the Career Services Office until they hit their senior year. The sooner you make time to plan and take specific action, the better positioned you will be to land a job that fits your career goals.

How-To-Guide to Academic Advising - Why should I meet with my academic advisor and how can advising help me stay on track to graduate? Your academic advisor will be one of the best resources to you as a new student. Please join us to learn the ins and outs of advising at MSU!

OneNote for Taking Notes - Ever wonder if there is an easier way to organize your notes, recordings, and pictures from your classes?  Well my friends.......THERE IS!!!!!  Come and learn about how using OneNote can get you organized for all your classes. 

Build Test-Taking Confidence - Whether it’s a midterm of just a short quiz, tests can be stressful.  This session addresses how you can create a study plan that will make exam prep easier. Plus we will provide study strategies for optimizing learning

Mid-Term Regroup - You've reached the middle of the semester!  Do you know what is working for you and what is not?  This workshop will help you identify study habits, time management strategies, ways to communicate with faculty, and resources that can help you be successful for the rest of the semester.  

Adulting is Stressful - Going off to college can be scary, exciting, and STRESSFUL! This session will talk about healthy ways to deal with stress in college all while making a cute little stress ball out of playdough and balloons!

Resume Writing 101 - This résumé workshop provides detailed explanations, as well step-by-step processes, for creating an effective résumé.

Who Are You? Creating Your Personal Statement and Cover Letter - Want to create a great first impression?  Then, you need a great personal statement and cover letter.  Cover letters link your resume to the job you are applying while your personal statement allows the employer to get a glimpse of who you are.  You are your strongest asset, so learn how to highlight yourself! 

Managing Your Stress for Finals - Finals week is tough no matter what major or year you are as a student. It’s important to remember how to manage stress and take care of yourself when classwork and exams are at an all-time high.

Finals Prep -  Join us for this fast and focused session preparing yourself for finals, final papers, final projects, and all that comes with the end of the semester.
