Process
- Formed SPSC and then SPC
- 7 meetings with Strategic Planning Committee (SPC)
- Almost 20 meetings with Strategic Planning Sub Committee (SPSC) with more to go before fall
- SPSC created an evidence library with about 30 items surveys, articles, websites,
reports, etc. - Individual and group SWOT analyses with SPSC; summary SWOT created
- Presented evidence and summary SWOT to SPC for their feedback, which was
incorporated - SWOT used to identify campus needs, actions, and outcomes gathered in small
groups at SPC - This info was collected and summarized into 40 logic models, which were downsized
to remove duplicates - Four goals were generated but felt uninspiring
- Turning point was an activity in small groups at SPC in early February
- What should Minot State University’s core values be?
- All groups saw MSU in almost the same way when asked to list MSU’s values
- The values that came out of that activity became the pillars in the plan and were linked to the Be Seen. Be Heard. taglines.
- A survey was sent to campus and community members to gather feedback on the pillars and other general information about MSU.
- The survey results were summarized and aligned with the SWOT.
- Reviewed strategic plans at other campuses.
- The survey results, SWOT, and pillars were used to write the current draft plan, mission, and vision.
