Pillar One: Community – Belong
Goal: We will create a campus where everyone feels welcome, supported, and proud to belong—strengthening connections within MSU and with our community.
Objective: Progress will be reflected in stronger campus engagement, improved trust and communication, and enhanced partnerships across the region.
At MSU, community matters. We are known for personal connections, a safe and welcoming campus, and strong ties to the Minot region. People know one another here, relationships matter, and personal connections shape the student and employee experience. We will build on those strengths so that all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends feel valued, supported, and proud to be part of the MSU community.
We are committed to cultivating an inclusive campus culture rooted in respect and transparency. At the same time, unclear governance, siloed practices, and concerns related to basic needs and wellbeing can erode morale and trust. By strengthening communication, improving shared spaces and services, and deepening connections with the Minot community, we will create an environment where people feel valued, supported, and truly belong.
We will:
- Build trust, clarify decision-making, and encourage shared responsibility for campus culture through transparent communication and shared governance.
- Improve wellbeing and the daily experience of living, learning, and working at MSU by enhancing campus spaces and support services.
- Increase opportunities for connection and engagement through activities, programs, and traditions that build relationships and school pride.
- Deepen partnerships with the Minot community and region through outreach, service, and collaboration.
- Sustain MSU’s role as a cultural and community hub through arts, athletics, and other activities.
- Support MSU’s long-term stability by nurturing relationships with alumni and community.
In short: MSU will be a place where everyone belongs—and where community is our foundation.
