Pillar Two: Opportunity – Be Inspired

Goal: We will provide access to a flexible, affordable education that prepares students for successful lives and careers. MSU aims to offer every learner a meaningful path forward.

Objective: Progress will be reflected in expanded access to flexible programs, participation in career-connected experiences, engagement in and beyond the classroom, and use of support services.

MSU provides opportunities for students to discover their direction, build skills, form meaningful connections, and apply what they learn to prepare them for their future roles. We meet learners where they are and support them to ensure they move confidently and steadily toward their goals.

To address the challenges of a rapidly changing society, we commit to making opportunity more accessible, flexible, and meaningful through innovative delivery options, strong partnerships, and career connected learning. MSU will inspire students to see education as accessible, relevant, and worth pursuing.

We will:

  • Allow students to engage and progress through multiple entry points, schedules, and delivery modes aligned with their goals by providing flexible and inclusive pathways. 
  • Create clear routes to degree completion by strengthening early entry, dual credit, and transfer pathways.
  • Expand career connected and real world learning experiences, including internships, service learning, and leadership opportunities. 
  • Connect learning with workforce needs by building strong partnerships with employers, schools, and military installations. 
  • Support student growth beyond the classroom by encouraging student participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure students receive timely support and stay on track by improving awareness, visibility, and use of student services.
  • Ensure opportunity is accessible to all students by enhancing available financial support and reducing other barriers to participation.
