Dr. Penny Craven is the current director of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) accredited School Psychology Program at Minot State University. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in School Psychology from Mississippi State University in 2009. She also holds an Ed.S. in Special Education with an emphasis on Emotional Behavior Disorders completed at Mississippi State University in 2008. Dr. Craven is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and currently holds state licenses in School Psychology in North Dakota, Illinois, and California. She has 20 years of field-based experience in the area of School Psychology and continues to work with school districts throughout North Dakota providing consultation and other services as needed. Dr. Craven's current research interests include helicopter parenting, learned helplessness, and the mental health benefits of rural life.
