Don Burke grew up in Pasadena, California and graduated from Gonzaga University with a B.A. degree in psychology. He received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Washington State University in 1978. He worked in Lewiston, Idaho for a short time before migrating to North Dakota, where he started his employment at Minot State University in 1980.  He is currently a professor of psychology at Minot State and is licensed as a psychologist in the state of North Dakota. His research interests center on the physical attractiveness phenomena.
