MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University has been named one of Prairie Business magazine’s 50 Best Places to Work for 2026, recognizing the University among the region’s leading workplaces, the magazine announced Monday.

The annual list recognizes organizations across North Dakota, South Dakota, and western Minnesota based on nominations from employees who know their workplaces best. Prairie Business received nearly 1,400 nominations for this year’s list.

Minot State was one of 50 organizations selected for recognition and one of just four college campuses across the three states included on the list.

The honor reflects the people and workplace culture that make Minot State a distinctive place to work. Prairie Business identified opportunities for professional growth, teamwork, and recognition of work-life balance among the qualities associated with the region’s best workplaces.

For Minot State, those qualities are reflected in the work of faculty and staff who support students in the classroom and throughout campus, contribute to the University’s academic and student programs, serve the Minot and northwest North Dakota community, and help advance the institution’s mission.

“We are honored to be acknowledged by Prairie Business as one of the best employers in the Upper Midwest,” said Minot State President Dr. Steven Shirley. “We have a tremendous team of employees at MSU educating and serving our students, and the outstanding work and dedication by this great team is precisely why we are among the very best across the region.”

This comes as Minot State continues to expand academic opportunities, enhance its campus, and invest in the student experience. New programs and newly renovated or expanded facilities are part of the University’s efforts to meet the changing needs of students and the region.

The recognition is particularly meaningful because the list is driven by employee nominations, giving the honor a direct connection to the experiences of the people who work for each organization.

Prairie Business magazine is published monthly by the Grand Forks Herald and covers business and industry throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and western Minnesota. The publication has a readership of more than 60,000.

The complete 2026 Prairie Business 50 Best Places to Work list is available through the Prairie Business Magazine website.
