MSU nursing is accepting guaranteed admission pathway applications
MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University’s Department of Nursing is now accepting applications for its guaranteed admission pathway to the nursing major within the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
The program provides qualified students with early assurance of placement and a clearly defined route to completing their degree.
“Minot State University is committed to preparing the next generation of nurses,” said Amy Lee, chair of the Department of Nursing. “The guaranteed admission pathway provides students with a clear, supportive path toward entering the nursing profession.”
The guaranteed admission option is designed for high-achieving high school seniors who are committed to pursuing a career in nursing. By securing a place in the program early, students can begin their academic journey at Minot State with confidence, knowing they are on a structured path toward entering the clinical nursing sequence and, ultimately, the profession.
Students interested in the program are encouraged to apply by May 1.
Following a review process conducted by the Department of Nursing, applicants will be notified of their admission status by May 15. To be considered, students must meet specific academic criteria, including either an ACT score of 24 or higher or a cumulative high school GPA of 3.25 or higher, graduate from a North Dakota high school, declare nursing as their major in their first semester at Minot State, and enroll in one of MSU’s First-Year Experience courses.
Once admitted through the guaranteed admission pathway, students must meet ongoing academic standards to progress into the clinical portion of the program. These expectations include:
- Minimum MSU cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Minimum 3.0 GPA across the 12 required nursing support courses
- Earn a grade of C or higher in all required support courses
- No repeated courses
- Submit the admission to nursing major application, application fee, and all required documentation by the fall or spring deadline
- Note TEAS testing requirements are waived for students who meet guaranteed admission criteria
This initiative reflects Minot State’s continued commitment to addressing workforce needs across North Dakota by supporting students from the beginning of their academic careers through professional practice in this high-demand field.
