MSU, Northland Community and Technical College sign agreement for guaranteed nursing admission

MINOT, N.D. – Proving to be a regional leader in healthcare workforce initiatives, the Minot State University Department of Nursing has signed an articulation agreement for guaranteed admission with Northland Community and Technical College (NCTC) in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.
The agreement confirms all students admitted to the NCTC Associate of Science (A.S.) nursing program will be given the additional option of guaranteed admission into MSU’s online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Completion Program, provided all Minot State admissions and BSN Completion Program requirements are met.
“This partnership creates a clear path for more students to earn their BSN, strengthening the nursing workforce and supporting the health of our state,” said Amy Lee, chair, Minot State Department of Nursing.
It is the third guaranteed admission partnership agreement signed by MSU nursing and two-year programs in the region, the first non-North Dakota University System (NDUS) school, and the sixth articulation agreement overall. MSU has guaranteed admission agreements with Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) and Lake Region State College (LRSC) from the NDUS, along with Northland.
“We’re proud to continue expanding access to high-quality nursing education through partnerships like this one with Northland,” said Richelle Johnson, Minot State RN to BSN program director and professor in the MSU Department of Nursing. “Building pathways that extend both within and beyond North Dakota supports our commitment to developing a strong, BSN-prepared nursing workforce across state lines.”
Courses completed from NCTC are considered equally transferable to Minot State’s BSN Completion Program, and students with an associate of arts, associate of science, or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited degree-granting institution are considered general education complete.
This partnership emphasizes the importance of a well-educated nursing workforce, which includes BSN-prepared nurses. Through this partnership, students will be provided:
- A clearly defined and easily understood pathway from the NCTC Associate's Degree in Nursing Program through the Minot State BSN Completion Program
- Continued curriculum alignment between NCTC and Minot State
- Early and coordinated advising between institutions and students to ensure timely completion
- Early admission to meet the Feb. 15 deadline for Minot State general and nursing scholarships
- A complete review of transcripts to assure credit for past academic coursework with appropriate course substitutions and equivalencies
Minot State will also provide faculty academic advisors to NCTC nursing students throughout their ADN program. For more information on the Minot State Department of Nursing and the online RN to BSN completion program, see the department’s WEBSITE.
