Minot State Geology Club speaker series

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State University Association of Undergrade Geologists in Industry, Technology, and Education (AUGITE) Geology Club is hosting an annual professional speakers series over the next four months.

The first of the MSU AUGITE Geology Club speaker series events is on Feb. 16 and will feature John-Paul Martin from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) at 6 p.m. in Hoffmann Auditorium in the Cyril Moore Science Center.

The event returns after a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the Minot State Geology Club is looking to reengage with the community to excite and motivate campus and community alike in geology.

The lecture will cover who NOAA are and what they do, discussing spring weather outlooks for such topics as flood risk and drought updates. The event will end with some fun, simple experiments. Following the lecture, there will be a short Q&A.

Pizza is provided while supplies last. The event is free and open to the public. The Minot State Geology Club is actively pursuing more speakers for the upcoming semester and into the next academic year. To keep up-to-date with the speaker series, follow the club on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM.
