Minot State accepting scholarship applications, deadline Feb. 15

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2022-2023 school year. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Feb. 15.

“Scholarships play an important part in helping Minot State students achieve their educational goals in the most affordable way possible,” said Laurie Weber, director of financial aid.

The University is offering the most scholarship dollars in school history, with a variety of scholarships funded by gifts made to Minot State. Scholarships are based on academic achievements, financial need, and other criteria defined by the donors and vary depending on a student’s eligibility and availability of funds.

Students can apply for the general scholarship application at MinotStateU.edu/finaid/scholarships.

Some Minot State departments use a separate scholarship application, and students are encouraged to check with their college and/or department for additional scholarship information. They can also visit MinotStateU.edu/finaid/scholarships/other-scholarships.shtml.

Students are also encouraged to complete the 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at fafsa.gov in order to be considered for federal student aid programs and need-based Minot State scholarships.

“Filing a FAFSA early every year ensures that Minot State students are accessing the most beneficial forms of financial aid available every year,” said Weber. “I encourage all eligible students to submit a FAFSA so they don’t miss out on any possible funding opportunities.”

Minot State also offers an Automatic 4-Year Award program for academically successful new freshman students. The combination of a student’s final unweighted high school GPA and best composite ACT or equivalent combined SAT score determines the award to students. For example, a student with a GPA above 3.8 and an ACT score over 30 may be awarded up to $12,000 over four years. New freshman students who are admitted by the priority deadline of July 1 for the Fall 2022 semester will automatically receive the award.

In addition, the new $1,000 Hometown Pride Scholarship exclusive to May 2022 high school graduates from Minot and regional schools located in North Dakota’s northwestern counties is also available. Eligible students admitted to Minot State by March 31 need not apply; funds will automatically be applied to tuition and/or room and board in $500 increments each semester of the 2022-23 school year.
