MSU Choirs to be featured on Prairie Public Radio

MINOT, N.D. – On Sunday, Dec. 20, a special Christmas episode of Dakota Sings will air on all channels of North Dakota Prairie Public Radio beginning at 8 p.m.

The episode will feature several college and university choirs, including MSU Choirs as they perform “Still, Still, Still,” Minot State University Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music Emerson Eads’ arrangement of the Austrian Christmas lullaby.

The piece will also feature Charlie Young, assistant professor of woodwinds and director of jazz studies, soprano sax; Jon Rumney, professor of high strings and music history, violin; Erik Anderson, Division of Performing Arts chair and professor of low strings and theory, cello; and Briana Schwan, functional piano instructor, piano.

In addition, “Be a Candle,” a selection from Eads’ “Her Voice Resounds: A Prairie Cantata,” will also air. This performance features the combined choirs of Minot High School and Minot State and faculty from the Minot State University Division of Performing Arts.

The Prairie Public Radio episode will feature selections from Handel’s “Messiah,” traditional spirituals and carols, new compositions, and “Silent Night” sung in the Lakota Language.
