Campus Players present ‘The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon’

MINOT, N.D. – Join Minot State’s Campus Players as they attempt to combine 209 stories, from well-known classics like “Snow White” and “Hansel and Gretel” to obscure tales like “The Talking Fish” and “Crab Tree,” in their holiday production of “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.”

The show will be performed at the Aleshire Theater Dec. 12-15, with the Thursday and Friday performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the Saturday and Sunday shows starting at 2 p.m.

“This show is entirely run by MSU Campus Players. All aspects of the show such as directing, costuming, props, and publicity are all done by the students,” said Katy Allers, Minot State humanities administrative assistant. “MSU art students are involved in the show by creating the images on the set and painting them. We started rehearsals in October and the students have been working hard building the set, finding and fitting costumes, working on the program, and many other duties that come with putting on such a production.

The show also presents Allers with a new opportunity.

“This play is such fun,” she said. “After many years on stage, this is my directorial debut. I couldn’t ask for a more enjoyable production to direct for my first time.”

Campus Players is the oldest Minot State student-run organization. Since 1923, Campus Players has promoted theater arts through performance and community engagement. In addition to being involved in the mainstage season, the Campus Players produce their own work throughout the year. This includes a Play in a Day production, play-reading sessions, and the annual holiday show.

General admission for “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” is $10 per person and reservations are not necessary. For more information, Allers can be contacted at katy.allers@MinotStateU.edu.
