Minot State to host Parent & Family Weekend

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University is hosting Parent & Family Weekend Thursday, Oct. 18 to Sunday, Oct. 21. With various events scheduled, there will be something for everyone.

“Parent & Family Weekend features opportunities for families and students to spend time together and connect with Minot State University through scheduled activities and on their own,” Kevin Harmon, vice president for student affairs, said.

The weekend begins with a 7 p.m. Minot State men’s hockey game at the Maysa Arena Thursday night. On Friday, Minot State Athletics is hosting a luncheon at 12 p.m. in the MSU Dome’s south lobby, and the women’s soccer team takes on Upper Iowa University at Herb Parker Stadium with a 7 p.m. start time. The Northwest Arts Center is also open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Thursday and Friday, and currently features exhibits by painter Hooshang Khorasani and sculptor Wansoo Kim.

Saturday, Oct. 20 brings a full day of activities. Students and their families may choose from many events throughout the day, including an Incredibles II movie showing at the Dome, campus tours, faculty presentations, and a campus resource fair. Football tailgating starts at 11 a.m. with the kick-off at 1 p.m. Immediately following the game, a hot cocoa and chocolate chip social will be held in the Beaver Dam. The puck drops again at 4 p.m., this time for the women’s hockey team. The weekend concludes with a pre-game soccer social at 12 p.m. on Sunday with the women playing at 1 p.m.
