Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service that allows MSU faculty, staff, and students to request materials not available at the Gordon B. Olson Library from other libraries.
Requesting Materials
Requests can be submitted directly from most library databases, the ODIN catalog, or WorldCat by selecting “Order through Interlibrary Loan.” You will be prompted to log in to your library patron account to complete the request form. Requests may also be made using the ILL Request Form. Typical processing time is 3 days to 2 weeks.
Delivery
- Articles: Delivered electronically to your MSU email
- Books and other items: Available for pickup at the circulation desk
Loan Period
Most items may be borrowed for 2–4 weeks. Due dates and restrictions are set by the lending library.
Renewals
Renewal requests must be submitted before the due date through your patron account. Renewals are granted at the discretion of the lending library. Items cannot be renewed once they are overdue.
Important Notes
- Some materials (such as ebooks, rare items, high-demand titles, and entire issues of journals) are not available through ILL.
- Overdue items are subject to a $1 per day fine.
- Items not returned are subject to replacement charges and processing fees.
- There is no grace period for ILLs and patrons who continually disregard due dates will have their ILL privileges revoked.
Please contact Interlibrary Loan if you have any questions.
