Non-affiliated MSU programs

A non-affiliated study abroad program is one that is not sponsored by, affiliated with, or already approved by the MSU Office of International Programs (OIP). While MSU offers study abroad opportunities through MSU affiliated study abroad programs and international partner institutions, you may also take advantage of numerous programs offered through national organizations, consortia and other universities.

In order to participate in a program that is not approved by the MSU Office of International Programs, you must submit a program review form that clearly demonstrates two things about your proposed program: 1) high standards of academic quality, intercultural immersion, and health and safety oversight; and 2) that you have a compelling academic need that is not met by an approved program and is met by the proposed program. If your program passes review in our office, then you will be invited to submit an application to study abroad; if not, you will be advised about other programs that may meet your needs.
