Physical Wellness

Involves respecting your body's own uniqueness and diversity, and engaging in practices that move you towards a higher level of health. Developing healthy habits such as getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, exercising, abstaining from alcohol and drugs, learning about diseases and the symptoms that accompany them, getting regular medical checkups, and protecting yourself from injury can add years to life and help you remain focused on the balance of body-mind-spirit. The physical benefits of looking good and feeling terrific most often lead to the psychological benefits of enhanced self-esteem, self-control, determination and a sense of direction.

Signs of Physical Wellness

  • Getting sufficient amount of sleep
  • Eating a well balanced diet
  • Having an established exercise routine
  • Avoiding drugs, alcohol and tobacco products
  • Having an annual exam
  • Knowing your numbers such as cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar
