Student Government Association (SGA) is the voice of the students at Minot State University. The senate is committed to fostering communication between the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Minot State University to promote and support a vibrant and inclusive campus community.

The Mission

The mission of the organization is to promote the general welfare of the students, increase student involvement within the university, and provide an official voice through which student opinion may be expressed.


The student body is represented by student senators elected from each academic college:

  • College of Education & Health Sciences (3)
  • College of Arts & Sciences (2)
  • College of Business (2)
  • General Studies (1)

Senators are also elected to represent:

  • MSU Athletes (1)
  • On-Campus Residents (2)
  • Off-Campus Residents (2)
  • Freshman (2)
  • Graduate Students (2)

Elections are held in the fall and spring semesters to fill the senator positions for each academic year.


Student Government Association meets bi-monthly at 7 p.m. in the Westlie Room on the third floor of the Student Center. Guests are always welcome to attend but encouraged to contact the SGA President to appear on the agenda.
