Student Government Association

Student Government Association

Have an idea to improve campus? Want to make a difference for your fellow students? Student Government Association (SGA) is your voice at Minot State University.

SGA works to represent student interests and foster communication between students, faculty, staff, and university administration. Through advocacy, leadership, and collaboration, SGA helps create a campus community where every student has the opportunity to be heard.

Mission

The mission of Student Government Association is to promote the general welfare of the students, increase student involvement within the university, and provide an official voice through which student opinion may be expressed.

Membership

SGA is made up of student senators elected to represent the diverse perspectives of the Minot State community. Senators serve students from each academic school:

  • School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
  • School of Business, Math, and Technology
  • School of Education and Behavior Sciences
  • School of Science and Health

Additional senators represent:

  • Athletics
  • On-Campus and Off-Campus Residents
  • International Students
  • Freshman
  • Graduate Students

Elections are held each fall and spring to fill senate positions for the upcoming academic year. Whether you're interested in serving as a senator, sharing ideas, or learning more about student leadership, we'd love to hear from you.

Stop by the Student Government Association office on second floor of the Student Center or email SGA@MinotStateU.edu to learn more about getting involved.

Meetings

Student Government Association meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the Westlie Room on the third floor of the Student Center. Meetings are open to all Minot State students, faculty, and staff, and we encourage anyone interested in campus issues or student leadership to attend.

If you would like to speak during a meeting or have an item added to the agenda, please contact the SGA President in advance to make arrangements.
