Minot State Beavers FC carry No. 6 seed into Region V Tournament
MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University Beavers FC earned the No. 6 overall seed in the NIRSA Championship Series Region V Tournament to be held Oct. 20-22 at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.
MSU Beavers FC finished the regular season with a 9-0-1 record, winning their first Great Plains Championship title, and finished the year as the No. 6 ranked team in Region V.
The University of Minnesota-Gold finished the regular season as the top-ranked team and will carry the No. 1 seed into the tournament in pool MCA. Colorado State was second in the rankings and will lead MCB, Arizona State is the third seed in pool MCC, the University of Colorado is fourth and in MCD ,and the No. 5 ranking went to Nebraska-Omaha in MCE.
The men’s club soccer team will take their No. 6 ranking into MCF along with No. 7 University of Denver, and No. 19 Creighton. MSU takes on Creighton in their first-ever Region V match Friday, Oct. 20 at 8:10 p.m. (Mountain Time) on Field #3, South Grass. MCF2 features Minot State Beavers FC vs. Denver Saturday, Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m. (MT) on Field #2, West Turf. Pool play finishes with Creighton and Denver Saturday at 5:45 p.m. (MT).
Region V consists of six pools of three teams each with the winners of each pool advancing to Sunday’s NIRSA National Championship bid qualifier games. Each team is guaranteed three matches at the regional with consolation games for second and third place pool teams also set for Sunday.
The winner of Minot State’s MCF will take on the winner from MCA Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12:45 p.m. (MT) on Field #2, West Turf, with MCB vs. MCE and MCC vs. MCD all in national tournament qualifiers that day.
Region V represents four leagues in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. More information about the Region V Tournament can be found HERE.
