We have made the determination that our program meets the educational requirements for licensure in Florida. DTS 230 Driver and Traffic Safety Education can be used for area (a), DTS 350 Advanced Driving for area (b), and DTS 450 Organization, Administration, and Supervision of Traffic Safety Education for area (c). These three courses are eight credit hours and Florida has agreed to waive their requirement to complete nine credit hours. Nebraska

Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania does not require specific coursework to obtain an endorsement or teach Drivers Ed for a private school. They have two options with the following requirements:

For those who want to teach Driver & Safety Educ in Pennsylvania public schools:

1. They need to be certified in Pennsylvania as a teacher in a specific content area(s) area (i.e. math, science, etc.)
2. They will then need to add the Driver and Safety Education endorsement
3. To add the endorsement, no coursework is required, but it is strongly suggested. They must pass the "Pennsylvania Safety & Drivers Ed Teacher Certification Assessment".  This test is administered through the PA Dept of Ed.
4. Once the above named assessment is passed, they can add the endorsement. Coursework is suggested in order to help pass the test.

For those who are not certified teachers and who want to teach Drivers Ed for a private school:

• They must be affiliated with a private school and two separate tests are required:
  1. A written test with 76 questions, 2 short answer questions and an essay must first be passed
  2. A driving test given by the Dept of Transportation must be passed
