Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics is the use of computational tools to analyze biological data. This is one of the fastest and largest growing facets of biology in recent years, especially as access to Big Data becomes more available. Our degree in Bioinformatics aims to prepare students both as Biologists and Data Scientists, ensuring that they are both able to analyze data, but also understand it from a biological point of view. Our program will give students the opportunity to perform biological research and learn the laboratory skills relevant to bioinformatics analysis, as well as allow them to analyze large datasets that they will have developed on their own. Students pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics will also be able to acquire two certifications in Data Science, as well as a minor in Data Science, all which will benefit them when entering the job market.
