Cheryl McIntyre, conductor
Cheryl McIntyre has her Master’s in Music Education from Minnesota State University at Mankato and her Bachelor’s Degree in Music and English Education from Northern State University. She has been teaching high school choir at Jamestown High School for the past 22 years. The Jamestown High School Choir was selected as the ND Governor’s Choir in 2009. Mrs. McIntyre was selected as NDMEA’s Music Educator of the Year in 2014. She was awarded Zonta’s Outstanding Women Leader Award in Jamestown this spring. In 2015, Mrs. McIntyre conducted the Northern Ambassadors Choir on their European Tour. She will be conducting the Northern Ambassadors Choir in 2017 also.

Mrs. McIntyre is the All State Music Chair for the state of North Dakota. She is the Children’s Choir Repertoire and Standards Chair for North Dakota ACDA and is currently President Elect for North Dakota ACDA. Mrs. McIntyre has been an adjudicator for regional and state music festivals. She guest directed the ND ACDA Treble Choir at the State Convention. She has helped develop the ND ACDA Show Choir Festival. She serves as a site manager for Surround the State in Song in Jamestown. Her choir performed at the state convention for North Dakota ACDA.

Emerson Eads, conductor
Dr. Emerson Eads currently serves as Director of Choral Activities at Minot State University. As a composer and conductor, Emerson has devoted himself to music of social concern. His Mass for the Oppressed, a setting of the Ordinary of the Mass featuring textual interpolations by his brother Evan Eads and a Credo adapted from the diary of Pope Francis, reflects on some of the most poignant social issues of our time. The Mass was written to muster public support for the Fairbanks Four, Native Alaskans from the composer’s hometown who were wrongfully imprisoned for eighteen years. Eads’ cantata “…from which your laughter rises” was written for the mothers of the Fairbanks Four. It was conducted to acclaim, paired in a concert featuring Haydn’s Stabat Mater. His newest opera, The Princess Sophia, is about the sinking of the SS Princess Sophia. It was premiered in Juneau, Alaska, on October 25th, 2018—the disaster’s centennial–to rave review in Opera Magazine. His most recent large-scale project, A Prairie Cantata, recovers lyrics from a neglected North Dakota woman poet and was premiered with the Minot State University Choir.

Dr. Eads studied choral conducting with Carmen-Helena Tellez at the University of Notre Dame, working with eminent choral conductors including Joseph Flummerfelt, Stephen Cleobury, Anne Howard Jones, and Peter Phillips. Prior to his graduate work, he studied composition with Alaskan composer John Luther Adams.

Thomas Caplin, conductor
Professor Thomas Caplin (1960), was born in Malmö, Sweden and received his education in both Copenhagen and Stockholm. He is a conductor, composer and specializes within the psychological/pedagogical aspects of choral leadership, coupled with the traditional perspectives of choral conducting and the overall running of a choir including all aspects.

Another specialty is the cross field between classical and rhythmical singing and conducting. He is frequently engaged as guest conductor and clinician, and as adjudicator in competitions.

In addition to his employment at Inland University Norway, he is also vice president for the International Choral Conductor’s Federation, and former member of the World Choir Council.
