Graduate Mathematics Education

Minot State offers two graduate programs to support and enhance content and pedagogical knowledge and skills of practicing high school math teachers. Both programs are offered online, and both provide 18 credits of graduate mathematics, which allow you to teach dual credit math in high school. 

  • Master of Education with Secondary Mathematics Concentration - This online program allows you to earn a Master of Education with 18 credits of graduate math coursework.
  • Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Education - This online program is for those who need 18 credits of graduate math courses to teach dual credit or who want a credential in mathematics education.

Spring 2026 Course Information

  • MATH 590 Trends, Methods, and Technology in Mathematics Education (3 credits) Teachers will explore, broaden, and deepen their understanding of concepts and pedagogy as it relates to current trends, methods, and technology in a high school math classroom designed to enhance teaching and learning. The course will focus on teacher preparation in anticipation of teaching dual credit math courses..

Summer 2026 Course Information

  • MATH 565 Calculus for Teachers (3 credits) Teachers will broaden and deepen their understanding of calculus concepts and pedagogy to better engage high school students in the problem-solving processes and applications of calculus. The course will cover differential and integral calculus topics, including appropriate technology used to teach the content with the aim of achieving proficiency within related secondary school and college-level calculus learning outcomes.
