                                            Monday, October 6, 6-8pm
Minot State University Conference Center, Minot, ND
Minot State University (MSU) will host an event focused around energy, engineering, and other industries that are important in the economies of western North Dakota, on Monday October 6 from 6-8pm at the MSU Conference Center located in the Student Center. The event is for all ages and audiences, especially middle-school and high school students and their families.
Beginning at 6:30 pm, short presentations by industry leaders will discuss workforce needs and educational opportunities in the region, now and into the future.
We're delighted to spotlight a special guest speaker, Heiko Kabutz, who does fascinating research on insect-inspired robotics designs at the "Animal Inspired Movement and Robotics Laboratory" at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Heiko is currently a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering.
Get ready to see firsthand how Heiko designs and builds robots that can SQUEEZE, deform, and navigate like real insects, drawing inspiration from animal biology. Think about all the things animals can do that most robots cannot do, and you’ll see how useful these robots will be in many industries. Best of all, Heiko is bringing some of his creations with him, so you'll get to see these incredible robots in person! Want a sneak peek? Check out this video on his work: https://youtu.be/wwrckOT4VwY
Don't miss this unique opportunity to explore the exciting intersection of nature and robotics! Come early at 6 pm or stick around a bit later to meet Heiko and see the robots up close (as they are quite small).
