MSU has taken a number of different actions across the campus to improve document accessibility.
Syllabus Remediation
All faculty were required to remediate flagged issues in their syllabuses through the Simple Syllabus platform prior to the start of the 2026 spring term. This set the tone for the document remediation effort that followed.
Education and training
Starting in 2026, webinars and training sessions were provided on accessibility topics including documents. Copies of these accessibility webinars were also made available for on-demand viewing. A Blackboard accessibility course was also produced and made mandatory for all faculty and staff.
MSU minotstateu.edu websites
In September of 2025 MSU had 9,477 PDF files spread across the University's minotstateu.edu websites that were publicly available. As of April 2026, 2,317 PDF files remain publicly available. Of the public PDF files, 1,150 have been moved the permanent archive.
Starting in 2026, audits for minotstateu.edu websites were performed and lists of documents were compiled and sent to each group across campus. It was requested that each group manually test the documents on their list and remediate issues for any they intended to keep online. Options for remediating the documents were also provided. Additionally, MSU has licensed YuJa EqualGround for ongoing compliance scanning.
Design and Print Services
Starting with the Fall 2025 issue of Connections Magazine, Design and Print Services changed their process in working with Adobe InDesign to make PDF documents intended for digital distribution satisfy Adobe Acrobat's accessibility tests.
Blackboard documents
The MSU Office of Instructional Technology continues to work with faculty to provide accessible documents to online students using Blackboard Ally.
Adobe Acrobat Pro
In the summer of 2025, through the NDUS, MSU licensed Adobe Acrobat Pro for all fulltime MSU employees. This has allowed groups across campus to perform testing and remediation of PDF documents.
