Since joining the faculty in 1985, Dr. Royer has taught a wide variety of both graduate and undergraduate courses. He has also directed numerous grant programs, including many Eisenhower Math and Science Act projects. Since 1995 he has concentrated his efforts on a number of field projects for such agencies as the National Park Service, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U. S. Forest Service, National Biological Survey, and U. S. Geological Survey. He is a member of the North Dakota Science Teachers Association and has served on many other professional science education committees, including both education and executive committees of the North Dakota Academy of Science and the executive board of the North Dakota Natural Science Society. He is a member of the Lepidopterists' Society, the Xerces Society, and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society. He has served the North Dakota Educational Standards and Practices Board on a number of examination teams for Teacher Education programs in North Dakota. For 12 years he edited and produced the Dakota Science Teacher, a statewide semi-annual NSTA-affiliated science education journal.
